"60cm x 60cm x 120cm" are the dimensions that define, within the overall unity of space, two new spaces - an interior and an external environment of these dimensions where all the events are happening. In these two spaces is examined and condemned the psychological imbalance of people's reactions when they are confronted with the refugee issue and the detention camps, either as spectators or as victims. It studies how those dimensions in the space envelop—immure, protect—imprison, isolate—connect, raise—activate, minimize—grow, ridicule—transfix, concern— ignore, attract—distract. For how long can human nature endure in a claustrophobic, repetitive and long-standing situation/problem, where the ability to communicate and ask for help is extremely limited?
The performance took place in Athens, on 27/7/2018, started at 11:17:34 am and lasted until 15:49:13 pm - generally 4 hours 53 minutes and 47 seconds. The date when it took place was semiotic, because it was a period where while families and people were still being trapped in detention camps, people have forgotten the problem of refugees because that either did not appear on television or because they did not see those people in their everyday life. As a result, these people's message for help is much more difficult to reach the recipient at this time than before, where everyone was involving with the problems of the refugees. This performance was done as an activist act in the framework of ALIEN (Advanced Learning and Inclusive EnviroNment) project.
