GridDance

Info

GridDance is a series of three digital artworks that explore the relationship between movement, structure, and perception. Featured in the MO Festival 2023, organized by Animattikon Festival, the series delves into the essence of motion by placing dynamic elements within a structured grid system, creating a dialogue between order and fluidity.

Through a process of experimentation and generative exploration, GridDance investigates the mesmerizing qualities of motion, challenging the rigidity of the grid by introducing smooth, organic transitions that defy expectations. The compositions oscillate between control and spontaneity, as each moving element interacts with its defined space, pushing the boundaries of fluidity, rhythm, and kinetic balance. By manipulating timing, easing, and directional flow, the artworks evoke a sense of hypnotic movement, where each frame becomes part of an evolving visual dance. The contrast between structured placement and unpredictable motion generates an interplay of tension and release, immersing the viewer in a state of continuous engagement.

Beyond aesthetics, GridDance is an inquiry into how movement is perceived and felt—how the interplay of elements within a defined system can evoke emotion, rhythm, and sensory response. It transforms the rigid nature of grids into a breathing, evolving composition, where digital motion becomes an expressive medium of its own.
