ΚΙΝΗΣΗ (Movement) is a generative artwork exploring motion, repetition, and rhythm through custom computational typography. Created in Processing during Vera van de Seyp’s workshop at INTL festival, the piece reimagines the Greek word for movement as a dynamic, ever-evolving system.
At the heart of ΚΙΝΗΣΗ is the Greek word for movement, reimagined through a system of custom-generated letters, each shaped by algorithmic rules that define their behavior within the grid. The artwork captures the very essence of kinetic energy, using looping structures, repetition, and perpetual motion to create a visual rhythm that constantly evolves yet remains structured.
By applying coded-based transformations, the piece examines how movement can be perceived, constructed, and deconstructed in a digital medium. The composition oscillates between rigid order and organic flow, reflecting the contrast between controlled computational logic and the unpredictable nature of motion in the real world. As the animation loops, the typography itself becomes an active participant in the choreography—its form shifting subtly over time, never static, always in flux.
