Le Passport - L’invitation au Voyage is a visual poem inspired by Charles Baudelaire’s Invitation to the Voyage, reimagined as a symbolic passport that captures the essence of daydreaming, artistic exploration, and the fluidity of cultural movement. Rooted in the idea of travel—both physical and imaginative—the project transforms Baudelaire’s verses into a curated journey through art, poetry, and coded symbolism.
Through an open-source research process, a collection of artworks was assembled, visually translating the evocative language of the poem into a sequence of images that span time periods, artistic styles, and cultural traditions. Each page pairs a painting with a single line of the poem, creating a layered reading experience that merges literary and visual storytelling. These pages are further enriched by passport-like coded references, reinforcing themes of identity, movement, and the documentation of experience.
A key interactive element is the introduction of mirrors, which serve a dual purpose—both functional and symbolic. They invite readers to physically engage with the book, while also acting as metaphors for self-reflection, shifting perspectives, and the fluid nature of identity in travel and art. Just as Baudelaire’s poem speaks of longing for an idealized, dreamlike destination, the mirrors disrupt and reframe the reader’s view, encouraging them to contemplate their own place within this imagined journey.
More than just a poetic reinterpretation, Le Passport - L’invitation au Voyage reflects the universal power of art to transcend geographical and temporal boundaries. By blending poetry, painting, and interactive design, the project becomes an invitation to an immersive voyage—one where imagination becomes a passport, and cultural discovery is an endless, fluid experience.
